Escrow on Wanted is deliberately manual for now: a human moderator verifies each payment and each payout. It's slower than an automated gateway, but it needs no card processor and every step is recorded on the deal so both parties can see exactly where the money is.
The buyer accepted an offer, so an escrow deal is opened for that exact amount.
The buyer sends the money to the escrow account off-platform and records the payment reference here.
A moderator manually checks the payment landed and marks the funds as held. The seller is cleared to send goods.
The seller hands over or ships the goods and adds a tracking or handover note.
The buyer inspects the goods and confirms they match the offer.
A moderator pays the seller out manually and closes the deal.
Either party can open a dispute at any point before release. The deal freezes, and a moderator reviews the payment reference, tracking note and the conversation on the request, then either releases the funds to the seller or refunds the buyer. Nothing is automatic — a person makes the call.
